Tide of progress has shifted

There is no easy way to say that things have taken a downturn with Sammy as of late. From being just a couple of days to be released to where she is today, our family has legitimate concern over her current condition.

Yesterday, I wrote that Samantha had an episode with her heart and oxygen levels and required intervention (actually, she had two – one occurred later in the day after I left). Today she suffered another setback: she was given a feeding tube. The past couple of days haven’t gone well with feeding and she hasn’t been able to get enough in her tiny body. I still think the poor baby is just exhausted and is still trying to regain an appetite. She sometimes recoils at human touch because she’s been poked so many times. And she still remains under the lights today although the bilirubin keeps going down. Tomorrow we hope she will be out from under her pseudo-tanning bed so that at least she can be held and cuddled to stimulate her recovery.

Needless to say, Katie and Dave are a little forlorn and the toll of uncertainty weighs upon them heavily. We are having a fast tomorrow so if anyone would like to participate, I know they would appreciate your prayers and thoughts on their behalf. We all just want so desparately for this baby girl to be in such a strong and healthy state that she will be able to safely come home.

    Dear Angie,
Thank you so much for your beautiful site. I have sat here in tears more than once. It is such a great way to stay in touch with what is happening with sweet little Samantha.
We will be part of the fast tomorrow.
Please give Katie and Dave our love.
    Love, Leslie

    Dear Angie,
I too appreciate your site. I check it often to keep informed about Samantha. I also am fasting for that beautiful little girl today and praying that answers will be found to solve her problems. Give Katie and Dave a hug for me. Mike also wants them to know that Samantha is in his prayers.
    Love you,
